Why We Don’t Release Specific Information About a Missing Person Until We Can Verify They Want to Be Found

When a loved one goes missing, emotions run high—and understandably so. Families and friends want answers fast. But at Zona Investigations, we hold to one firm ethical and legal standard:

We will not disclose a missing person’s location or personal information unless we’ve verified they want to be found.

🧭 Our Job Is to Find—Not to Force

As private investigators, our role is to locate individuals—but not to override their personal agency. Adults have the legal right to disappear or cut contact, as long as no crime is involved.

That means if we locate someone, we will:

  • Verify they are safe

  • Ensure they are not under coercion

  • Ask if they want to be contacted

  • Only share information if they give us clear consent

If they decline, we can only confirm that they’re alive and well. We will not reveal their location or contact details.

🚨 Because Not Every Search Comes from Good Intentions

We don’t say this lightly:There are people out there who pretend to be concerned—but have ulterior motives.

We’ve seen it all:

  • Abusive ex-partners posing as concerned relatives

  • Stalkers claiming they’ve “just lost touch”

  • Debt collectors or scammers trying to manipulate someone into contact

  • Individuals attempting to exploit or blackmail someone they've found

This is why we screen every case carefully and verify both sides of the story before we act.

🤝 We Protect Privacy, Safety, and Legality

Our approach protects:

  • Survivors of domestic abuse

  • People who need space from family conflict

  • Your investigation from legal and ethical issues

We understand it’s hard not having answers—but no amount of urgency justifies compromising someone’s safety or trust.
